This novel is about personal, family, and human love, faith, and hope. The author has done her research as she builds the setting and characters. She leaves nothing to the imagination in her descriptions. Beginning during WW II this family story moves across generations. You feel what once was, and you can hear the bell peeling through the countryside as it signifies a message of hope, joy, and freedom. You will sense the anguish, loss, pain and tragedy and you will see and feel the moral fiber woven through the words on each page. The author gives life and authenticity to her writing.

Valentin and Lillie take you on a journey through the social and religious impact of war, and the realities of life. The author eloquently reveals lessons of trust and optimism through devotion. From Europe, America, war, vineyards, the underground paper, churches, wealth, poverty, and family to overcoming daily and life altering struggles, you will feel the power of love, new beginnings, acceptance, religious tolerance, human dignity, and worth. This is a frank, wholesome, beautiful, tragic, and inspiring love story of faith and family.

Well done and a must read.

COURAGE TIMES THREE. A NOVEL selling at just 99 cents on Kindle and Nook

Courage times three is a unique read. There is so much history and tragedy- it is written almost as a memoir. You hear stories and you see shows on television about Nazi’s but nothing prepares you for the full horror of what it was like. Brenda Brown Elliott does it beautifully with heart and soul- and not relying on gimmicky clichés.
The authors voice is so true you could believe that she experienced these events first hand.

Lilly, Madeleine and Lorraine are paragons of faith. No matter what life threw at them, they handled it with faith. Battling two world wars and emigrating to America- these women never lost hope.

There is so much more in this book, like Lilly and Valentin’s tender love story that defies all the odds. You just have to read it to believe it. Some label this book as Christian fiction, but I don’t agree. This is a book about love hope and faith and it is for everyone; it shouldn’t be pigeon holed into one genre.

Overcoming is a big theme in the novel and how families cope with adversity and triumph.

For me, on a personal note: This book is an allegory. An allegory on how to succeed at life by having faith. Brenda Brown Elliott and her strong role model characters showed me what every woman should aspire to- true grace.

The face of reflection reveals more than just a single look today.
As the forces of life inflict themselves upon our minds and bodies
We oftentimes look for a sense of peace and justice in a world
that seems to perpetually invade our private space away from
the judgments of others who feel better about themselves through
criticizing one or another.

Don’t get caught up in the world of judging others as each of our doorsteps
is littered with dirt and soil making victims of those judging more than anything.

Celebrate your ability to find the goodness in all those whose paths you cross
today and every day. Give special meaning to what another says about you.

Be that one who doesn’t demand respect but earns it. Be that one who laughs at himself
when he makes a mistake and admits it. Be the one who climbs the ladder of dignity

and respect through your own gracious actions. Truly reflect on just WHO YOU ARE!
